I attended the Dogwood Festival in Perry Ga, after spending the day in town looking at all the exhibits, I made my way out to the fairgrounds where they were setting up for the balloons and for the free concert that night. This was one of the first balloons that was inflated and I did’nt think to much of the shot until I saw the umbrella in the foreground, that was when I saw something more and knew the shot was what I was looking for.
Your local ball park has many opportunities to get out and experiment with some action shots. I have always enjoyed shooting baseball and softball games. A few hours can prove to be a most enjoyable experience and get you a few prize shots too.
On a trip this past spring we visited some of the attractions on the streets of Charleston. This youngster was having fun staying cool on a warm day.
It was one of those days where the heat and humidity was cranking, keeping one eye on the arena and the other eye on the weather, I was thankful I had someone there that had a canopy set up. We were talking if the young lady would get her run in before it started rain. As soon as she entered the arena it started raining we all dashed for the canopy as the heaven opened up, I did my best to get some shots of her as we were all trying for the same spot under the canopy. The wind was blowing the rain in on us, but we were setting pretty good compared to the girl and her horse. It was pouring in buckets by the time she reached the third barrel. As she exited the arena all racing was stopped as the water was standing all around us. Would have liked to have gotten a better shot, but what can you do when everybody is getting in front of you while your trying to shoot. Don’t blame them cause that rain was cold, Even though I cut the horse’s head off they loved the photo of the wet run.
This is another one of my Grandsons, he’s a real player, from the time the season starts till a good bit into football season he is playing league baseball. This year we will get to see him play high school ball, looking forward to seeing him play again, and the springtime activities too.
When I took this shot I thought I caught her on her phone, she later told me that she was scratching her ear. Oh well, she loved the shot anyways.
During midday at the chariot event some members of local churches in the area competed in an exhibition event. From the shot you would think that this group did not do well, but this is the shot as they crossed the finish line to win the exhibition. I welcome your comments and would like a chance to view your work as well.
