About Me

Avatar

Hello I am Jim Davis and welcome to my Blog page. I am an amateur photographer who has been shooting for a couple of years now. I was introduced to photography by my cousin Pat English and together we started a group on Facebook called Freelance Photo. I have participated in a few photo walks, and was able to meet some of the groups photographers, plus I made some social friends along the way. One particular is Jim Hansen, his photography is an inspiration and his advise proved to be valuable. While there were many who coached me, Jim always would work with me through messaging. So in a sense, I had a learning curve. This and a few trips from my cousin, quickly developed my skills. One of his trips he invited me to attend a barrel race that his grand-daughter was running in, and the rest is history. I found what I was good at, and it in turn helped me with other types of photography. I enjoy all types of photography, and still have many areas of it that I haven’t begun to explore as of yet. Some of my favs are: Sports/Action, Wildlife, Nature, People, pets and Landscape. I want to learn more about light and night photography. I love to look at others work, itsΒ  another way to help train your eye on what makes a photo great. I try new editing techniques all the time, even some bad ones.

My Equipment:

  1. Nikon D7000
  2. Nikkor 18-105 kit lens
  3. Nikkor 50mm 1.8 lens
  4. Nikkor 300 F4 fixed
  5. Nikkor 1.4 TC

Somewhere I also have/had a Nikkor 55-300 lens, if I find it, don’t know got the bag, but no lens.

Many thanks for the folks who follow me. Your likes are very much appreciated and your comments are loved. I love to talk photography, so drop me a line and I will gladly discuss whatever it is you would like to talk about.

Glass is where its at!!

  3. Hi Jim, you share the same name as the creator of Garfield, of whom I love this inanimate furball soft toy creation of Jim Davis. I am enjoying your blog and admiring your photography. Keep doing it and thanks for dropping by my site πŸ˜€

  4. Hi, Jim –
Thanks for subscribing to my blog! Like you, I’m an amateur photographer, but contrary to you I’ve been taking pictures in some way sice the mid 50’s. After a rather long pause, digital photography was introduced to me back in 2004, and that me going again πŸ™‚ Now I must haved taken in excess of a
100 000 pictures since then. And it’s fun!

Mainly I focus on landscape photography and a bit of ‘documentary photography’ shooting pictures of Norwgian cities, villages, tourist destinations or just nature. I’m also into a bit of macro photography through summer.

On my blog of today, you may find more than 3500 pictures from Norwy and Norwegian nature, mostly in ‘full screen’, and new pictures will be posted on a regular basis. (Please enjoy!)

Originally my blog was started to accomodate the 5 million Americans with a Norwegian heritage. I don’t know about you, but it certainly sounds like your friend Jim Hansen ought to be interested? πŸ™‚
So if you appreciate what you find here, please do tell your friends!

    1. I look forward to viewing and commenting on your work, I’ll check and see if I am following you, and I will spread the word. I plan to do a page for photographers that inspire me. I believe we can learn from other photographers perspectives and asking questions too!! Thanks for the comment and look forward to sharing our photography from the past present and future. Good shooting and thanks!!
