Here Fishy Fish

This greenback Heron appears to be offering up his catch to see if he can entice a fish to come closer.

  1. Actually Jim you are not far off. Green herons are kind of tool users. They are known to toss things onto the surface of the water to attract prey…things such as a feather or a leaf or who knows what else. I have only seen the feather trick. He could be fishing or he could be slow to swallow the insect delicacy at the moment you captured.

      1. I remember my first sightings of these birds and it made me happy to see them and take pictures. Now they are familiar to me but always welcome in my viewfinder…very handsome and fierce little birds. I do not see them as often as Great blue herons or white egrets.
